Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.)
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has the power to approve or reject the Keystone XL pipeline, and your senators can pressure her to stand up to Big Oil and stop it.
Help put some needed peer pressure on Secretary Clinton by calling your senators today.
Instructions for making your calls:
1) Call your senators. You can find their office phone numbers using the tool to the right, or dial the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected.
2) Deliver your message. Below is a sample script. Check the list to the right to see if one or both of your senators has already voiced concerns. If so, thank them and urge them to keep speaking out to stop the pipeline.
“Hi, this is NAME calling from TOWN, CITY or COUNTY, STATE. I am calling to ask that Senator ______ publically oppose the Keystone XL pipeline. I am against the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline because it would put communities at risk of oil spills and increase air and water pollution. This pipeline endangers all Americans because it would make climate change worse. We need to be promoting cleaner, safer alternatives to fossil fuels instead of piping tar sands oil -- the most polluting type of oil we can get -- across the U.S.
Do you know where Senator _______ stands on this proposed pipeline?
I hope that Senator ______ will stand up to Big Oil by opposing the Keystone XL pipeline and tell Secretary Clinton to do the same. Will you deliver my message to the Senator?”
3) Report the results of your calls using the form below.
4) Please spread the word and encourage your friends to call their senators, too!
