Tell TIAA-CREF to go deforestation and land grab-free!

TIAA-CREF, one of the largest investment firms in the U.S., has over several hundred million dollars invested in land grabbing, deforestation and human rights violations. TIAA-CREF manages retirement funds for many academic and cultural institutions including universities, museums, nonprofits, unions, health services and National Public Radio.

TIAA-CREF has a particular interest in hearing from clients and also cares about protecting their image in the public. Ask them to stop profiting from industries that are causing land grabbing, deforestation and climate change, killing endangered species and violating human rights.

Groups part of this campaign include:
Friends of the Earth U.S, Rede Social de Justiça e Direitos Humanos, Grain, National Family Farm Coalition, Family Farm Defenders, Rural Coalition, Presbyterian Hunger Program, PC (USA), ActionAid USA, MaryKnoll, Grassroots International, Faculty/Staff Divestment Network, Union of Concerned Scientists, Fian International

Here’s a summary of what our letter is asking TIAA-CREF to do:

• Disclose information about all farmland and palm oil investments
• Commit to a Deforestation and Land Grab-Free investment policy that includes adhering to four pillars of responsible investment and exclude investments in companies that don’t meet this policy
