SIGN ON: DEFEND THE ESA AND PROTECT OUR WILDLIFE

Our planet is facing an alarming and catastrophic biodiversity crisis, largely driven by humankind. From offshore drilling to clear-cutting national forests, experts have confirmed that as many as ONE MILLION species are now at risk of extinction. That means it’s up to us to confront this crisis and prevent America’s imperiled wildlife – gray wolves, grizzlies, sea turtles, and more – from disappearing forever.

Defending the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is our best shot at doing that. It’s our most effective law to protect biodiversity and prevent the extinction of our most vulnerable animals, fish, and plants.

I am writing to you today to urge you to vote NO on any legislation that comes to your desk that attacks the Endangered Species Act (ESA) or guts critical protections for our already vulnerable wildlife.

Our planet is facing an alarming and catastrophic biodiversity crisis, largely driven by humankind. From offshore drilling to clear-cutting National Forests, experts have confirmed that as many as ONE MILLION species are now at risk of extinction. That means it’s up to us to confront this crisis and prevent America’s imperiled wildlife – gray wolves, grizzlies, sea turtles, and more – from disappearing forever.

Defending the ESA is our best shot at doing that. It’s our most effective law to protect biodiversity and prevent the extinction of our most vulnerable animals, fish, and plants. Nearly all species listed under the ESA have been saved from extinction, and hundreds are on the path to recovery today – including the bald eagle, a symbol of our nation’s environmental movement.

As we celebrate 250 years of the United States, we must ask ourselves what we want the next 250 years to look like. For me, that means protecting our wildlife, communities, and planet, and I hope it means the same for you.

Please, will you protect and strengthen the Endangered Species Act to prevent the extinction of vital species and the destruction of essential ecosystems?
