Take action now: Tell your Representative to block Pebble Mine!

We’ve reached a critical point in the fight to protect Bristol Bay, Alaska from the disastrous Pebble Mine. The mine could generate more than 10 billion tons of dangerous waste. And it would likely plumet the salmon population -- castastrophically impacting local communties. Now we need your help to turn up the heat on Congress to help stop the mine.

Dear Representative,

Bristol Bay, Alaska is a national treasure and crown jewel of America’s fisheries. A rushed, flawed and disgustingly inadequate permit review is unacceptable.  We are thankful that California Congressman Jared Huffman introduced an amendment in the House budget process that would prevent the Army Corps from finalizing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement with this budget.

Bristol Bay is home to one of the largest and last remaining wild salmon populations in the world.
Local communities have long been opposed to Pebble Mine. More than 65 percent of all Alaskans, 80 percent of Bristol Bay residents -- including Native people -- and more than 85 percent of commercial fisherman strongly oppose it.

Rep. Huffman’s amendment forces the Corps to stop its rushed and flawed DEIS process and include critical missing pieces to its analysis of the Pebble Mine.  Unfortunately, this step is necessary to reign in an agency that seems more interested in appeasing Pebble’s lobbyists who spent millions to get this rushed backroom deal with Trump’s officials than getting the science right and listening to Bristol Bay’s tribes and the public.  For years now, a majority of Alaskans have opposed Pebble and have been joined by millions of Americans urging strong protections for Bristol Bay. The Huffman amendment provides a critical opportunity to ensure our voices are not drowned out.  Please vote yes in favor to pass Rep. Huffman’s Amendment #63.
