Tell Congress to protect Bears Ears National Monument from Big Oil drilling projects!

Bears Ears National Monument is a living cultural landscape. Humans have inhabited the surrounding lands for nearly 13,000 years. But the Trump Administration has shown it values Big Oil's profits over our cultural landmarks. We can’t let Big Oil destroy these ancestral indigenous lands.

Our legislators must protect this historic monument by supporting the BEARS Act. But they will only act if they feel pressure from constituents like you!

Dear Representative,

Our public lands and national monuments are historic sites that preserve the cultural, sacred and ecological diversity of our nation. As such, they should be protected. But the Trump Administration seems hellbent on destroying monuments tied to our diverse cultural fabric by handing them over to Big Oil for devastating fracking and drilling projects.

This is unjust and must be stopped. Right now, there is a bill in front of Congress, H.R. 871 or the Bears Ears Expansion And Respect for Sovereignty Act: “A bill to expand the boundaries of the Bears Ears National Monument, to ensure prompt engagement with the Bears Ears Commission and prompt implementation of the Proclamation establishing the Bears Ears National Monument, and for other purposes.”

This is the legislation we need to protect Bears Ears from Trump’s attacks. The Bears Ears National Monument designation was historic, not just for preserving a stunning landscape, but for the engagement and co-management of the Monument with the Indigenous tribal governments on whose ancestral land the monument resides. Bears Ears is a reminder that our country has a rich, vibrant, and, most importantly, a diverse history in the face of Trump's onslaught of racist attacks.
