Tell your Representative to protect our oceans from offshore drilling!

Deepwater Horizon serves as a reminder that any drilling in our oceans is unacceptable. It’s only a matter of time before the next large-scale oil spill disaster. Any new drilling would threaten marine life, pollute our coast and contribute to the climate crisis.

So we need Congress to step up, check Trump’s handouts to Big Oil, and protect our aquatic ecosystems from destruction. But your Representive needs to feel pressure from constituents like you to ensure they take action.

Dear Representative,

It is of paramount importance that you vote to pass H.R. 1941 and H.R. 205 when the legislation is taken to the floor for a vote. These two bills would protect the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic and Pacific coastlines -- which were included in the Trump Administration’s Five Year Plan -- from expanded offshore drilling activity.

In addition to voting to pass these bills, please continue doing all you can to protect all regions of our OCS from dirty and dangerous new offshore drilling. Interior Secretary Bernhardt’s postponement of the Five Year Plan is only a temporary deferral. Please do not ease any efforts to protect all our coasts from offshore drilling. It’s clear that the Trump Administration is not going to stop its efforts to hand over our oceans to the offshore drilling industry.

Please support H.R. 1941 and H.R. 205, as well as any additional legislation that places a moratorium on new drilling in the OCS.  I also urge you to fight for additional legislation that would protect the entire Gulf of Mexico -- not just Florida’s coastline -- from this dangerous industry. No matter where it occurs, expanded offshore drilling has lasting consequences for human health, marine life and ocean dependent industries.

We can’t afford any increased risk of oil spills.
