Tell Congress to demand the EPA ban toxic glyphosate!

Glyphosate is terrible for people and the planet. It's linked to cancer. It is a key factor in monarch butterfly decline. And it has been banned or restricted in hundreds of locations worldwide. But Trump’s EPA announced that it won’t ban glyphosate or require warning labels stating that glyphosate causes cancer.

The administration is putting pesticide industry profits over protecting people and the planet from this toxic chemical. Your Representative in Congress can make the EPA do its job! And they will only act if they feel pressure from constituents like you.

Dear Representative,

Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the world, most well-known under the trade name Roundup. Based on the science of glyphosate’s harm to human health and the environment, 29 countries and over 100 cities across the United States have already implemented policies to restrict or ban its use. Yet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has allowed glyphosate to remain on the market.

I strongly urge you to tell the EPA to protect people and the planet by banning glyphosate.
 
The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified glyphosate as a probable carcinogen. In addition, California regulators have included the chemical on the Proposition 65 list as a known carcinogen. A series of high-profile court cases have determined that Roundup was a significant factor in plaintiff’s non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. To date, Bayer, the manufacturer of Roundup, has been ordered to pay more than $2 billion in damages, and over 18,000 others are suing.

In an unprecedented move, the EPA is undermining state law by attempting to veto California’s requirement that all Roundup and other glyphosate products include a warning label about the cancer risks of this pesticide as required by Proposition 65.

Multiple studies show that glyphosate -- widely used along the migration route for monarch butterflies — is virtually wiping out milkweed, the only food young monarchs eat. monarch butterfly populations have fallen by over ninety percent in the past two decades while glyphosate use has skyrocketed.

The evidence is clear -- we need action now. I ask that you urge the EPA to protect our health and the environment by banning glyphosate.
