Tell the Ex-Im bank to protect endangered sea turtles from dangerous fossil fuel projects in Mozambique!

For over 45 years, endangered sea turtles have found safe haven in Mozambique. Now these iconic creatures are at risk. Trump’s Export-Import Bank plans to finance a $5 billion liquid natural gas project that would cut right through key turtle nesting grounds. This is nothing more than a giveaway to the fossil fuel industry.

With your help, we can pressure Ex-Im Bank to reject this disastrous LNG proposal. But we can’t do it alone!

Dear Export-Import Bank Chairwoman Reed:

I urge you to reject financing for the liquefied natural gas project in Mozambique. This project would do irreversible damage to the pristine marine ecosystems in northern Mozambique, threatening their existence and the animals that live there. Moreover, it would have devastating impacts on the climate as liquefied natural gas could be worse for the climate than coal. In addition to the environmental impacts, the project will hurt local communities. We are already seeing  the loss and destruction of local communities’ land, with little or no compensation. Meanwhile, the promise of jobs has failed to materialize, leaving local communities worse off.

The U.S. government should not be using taxpayer dollars to finance environmental and social destruction abroad. There is no other choice than for Ex-Im Bank to reject financing for Mozambique LNG (AP087889xx).
