Tell the Interior Department to stop Big Oil from destroying Utah’s lands and wildlife!

Trump’s Department of Interior recently finalized plans to sell off land in Utah near these historic landmarks for new drilling and mining. These lands are sacred to several Native American nations and prized by scientists.

It's not too late to stop this plan -- but we need you to speak up now.

To whom it may concern,

I ask that you cancel the proposed selling of the iconic lands near Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante are two of our most iconic Western monuments. They’re home to stunning desert landscapes, wilderness areas, ancestral Indigenous lands, and archaeological hotbeds.

The area of Grand Staircase-Escalante that the administration wants to open for drilling and mining includes the beautiful Kaiparowits Plateau. The area is an important archeological site where Tyrannosaurus skeletons have been found. Moreover, humans have inhabited and relied on the land surrounding Bears Ears National Monument for 13,000 years. It is a living cultural landscape.

Under the Obama Administration, this landscape was not only protected but also co-managed by Indigenous communities with ancient ties to the land. The current unjust and environmentally unsound process has cut out Indigenous peoples, ignores the science showing we must stop all fossil fuel projects in our time of climate crisis, and is a blatant giveaway to the fossil fuel industry.
