Last week, as the coronavirus crisis escalated in communities across the country, Donald Trump’s EPA announced a sweeping, indefinite suspension of environmental rule enforcement.

Trump’s EPA is exploiting this crisis to make polluters richer. We need your help to stop it.

We are in the middle of a global pandemic and COVID-19 cases across the United States recently reached the highest globally. It’s unacceptable that the EPA is announcing plans to suspend enforcement of environmental regulations that hold polluting industries like oil, gas, and chemical companies accountable for reducing the impact of their products and projects on the environment and human health. It’s even more disappointing that these changes are happening as health care professionals are struggling with a virus that worsens human respiratory systems.

Relaxing environmental regulation enforcement means an increase in the potential release of excess toxic air pollutants and other pollution that exacerbates asthma, breathing difficulty, and cardiovascular problems during a pandemic that can cause respiratory failure.

I urge you to change course and reverse this decision.
