Stop Bayer’s new bee-killing pesticide!

Many pollinators are already on the brink of extinction. Now, Bayer is pushing the EPA to register a new pesticide that is highly toxic to honeybees and bumble bees -- tetraniliprole. Take action to demand the EPA stop this pesticide in its tracks.

I strongly urge the EPA to deny the registration of new pesticide products containing tetraniliprole.

Research has shown that tetraniliprole is highly toxic to non-target invertebrates including honeybees and bumblebees. Toxic pesticides play a significant role in the decline of these key pollinators. Some native bee species already face extinction, and U.S. beekeepers lost 43.9 percent of their colonies between 2019 to 2020, suffering unusually high summer time losses. Research shows that we are already seeing shortages in key crops due to pollinator declines.

Tetraniliprole may travel from application sites to contaminate groundwater and surface water such as ponds, streams and rivers. This is concerning because tetraniliprole is also toxic to some aquatic organisms. Other research shows that tetraniliprole may persist in aquatic environments and in soil under certain conditions.

The EPA must uphold its duty to protect pollinators by denying the registration of products containing tetraniliprole.
