Tell your Representatives: Stop bailing out Big Oil!

For over a century, some of the most generous tax loopholes on the books have gone to oil, gas and coal. These subsidies allow the fossil fuel industry to poison communities, drive the climate crisis, and harm our environment.

Congress could stop bailing out Big Oil and invest in equitable climate solutions. But we need your help to convince it to act.

Dear Representative,

The crisis of COVID-19 shined a light on how the fossil fuel industry still relies on government support. Billions in tax breaks and loans were funneled to polluters by the corrupt Trump administration using the pretext of disaster aid. This latest round of giveaways during a time of national emergency is in addition to over a hundred years of direct subsidization for oil, gas and coal.

In short, the U.S. is bailing out polluters at the expense of people and the planet. Instead of investing in equitable climate solutions, health care, education, and recovering from the COVID-19 crisis, we’re propping up dirty energy.

I urge you to use every tool available -- including budget reconciliation -- to repeal fossil fuel subsidies.
