Demand Congress put people and the planet before Big Oil profits!

Since 2015 oil exports have increased 750%. The oil is routed from wells, through pipelines, on trains and trucks, then onto ships that transport it across the globe. At each stage accidents and spills are a risk.

The United States could become a leader in global climate action by halting the exports of oil and gas. It could become a leader in clean energy solutions -- providing our kids and grandkids with a healthy planet.

Dear Member of Congress,

We must end the legacy of deadly pollution that disproportionately burdens frontline, Black, Indigenous and communities of color, and we cannot do so unless we reinstate the ban on the export of crude oil and ban the export of natural gas. According to a 2020 report, oil exports have increased by 750% since the reversal of the crude export ban in 2015. By October 2019, 24% of all crude oil extracted in the United States was exported. Gas exports are moving in the same direction. The daily average of US liquid gas exports more than doubled between 2018 and 2019. The majority of oil and gas extracted from the Permian Basin of New Mexico and Texas, and other regions is exported to Asian and European markets. While fossil fuel companies are getting rich, frontline communities from the Permian to the Texas Gulf Coast suffer extreme health impacts from air and water pollution, such as increased rates of cancer, asthma, and preterm birth. In order to prevent immediate, global climate collapse, we must stop the extraction of oil and gas from oil fields like the Permian Basin destined for overseas markets.

Support the Block All New (BAN) Exports Act and prioritize the health and wellbeing of our planet above the interests of the fossil fuel industry.
