Protect Utah’s ecosystems from destruction!

Uranium mining could begin near Bears Ears -- decimating the images painted and etched on rocks by Indigenous communities many centuries ago. Drilling and mining also threatens the rugged cliffs, terraces, and natural bridges and arches around Grand Staircase-Escalante. The noise and increased traffic could push the California Condor to the brink of extinction.

President Biden could keep Big Polluters away from Southern Utah’s iconic landscapes and wildlife. But we need your help to push him to act.

Dear President Biden,

Our public lands and national monuments are historic sites that preserve the cultural and ecological diversity of our nation. As such, they should be protected. But the Trump Administration slashed protection for 85% of Bears Ears National Monument and 50% of Grand Staircase-Escalante -- destroying monuments tied to our diverse cultural fabric by handing them over to Big Oil for devastating fracking and drilling projects.

This is unjust and must be stopped. The Bears Ears National Monument designation was historic, not just for preserving a stunning landscape, but for the engagement and co-management of the Monument with the Indigenous tribal governments on whose ancestral land the monument resides. Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante are a reminder that our country has a rich, vibrant, and, most importantly, diverse history.

Throughout your campaign, you pledged to restore the monuments. I am asking that you honor your word and restore the moral fabric of our country by protecting our national and cultural landmarks.
