Act fast to stop the construction of the Line 3 Pipeline!

The Line 3 Pipeline is a 760,000-barrel-a-day tar sands oil pipeline. It will transport some of the dirtiest oil in the world from Alberta, Canada to the United States.

The pipeline threatens ancestral treaty lands to the Anishinaabe people. And it would add levels of pollution equivalent to the pollution from 38 million vehicles -- furthering climate chaos.

Dear Jaime Pinkham, Michael Connor, and Lieutenant General Scott A. Spellmon:

Climate science and treaty rights clearly show that the Line 3 Pipeline in Minnesota would harm sacred sites and push our climate further into crisis.

Minnesotans submitted thousands of public comments against Line 3, they've marched in the streets, attended the hearings, and engaged in every step of the process. The Pipeline will plow through sacred wild rice watersheds, over 800 wetlands, and 200+ water bodies in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. There are drones overhead and armed police on the ground. And they continue to arrest and prosecute dozens of peaceful protestors.

This project was rushed through without adequate review at the federal or state level, and the permits were granted over the objections of local people and tribes. Furthermore, the Army Corps of Engineers has the power to stop this project at any time – just as you ordered work to stop in December 2020.

I urge you to order another immediate work stoppage on Line 3, to give the Corps time to review the federal permits that Trump pushed through, and President Biden’s nominee, Michael Connor, time to be confirmed by the Senate. It must be President Biden and his nominee’s decision to uphold or reverse the previous Administrations permits and analysis of the impacts of Line 3. Enough is enough. No more pipelines. Stop Line 3.
