Protect the planet from the fossil fuel industry!

Code red for humanity: scientists are warning that climate change is imminent. Catastrophic weather events are becoming more frequent.

Flooding this year decimated communities from Louisiana to New York. Wildfires burning in the West are creating an eerie orange glow while smoke blankets the ground and sky.

A key driver of climate change is fossil fuel pollution. But elected officials continue to support this dirty industry.

Dear Representative {user_data~Rep Last Name},

I’m sure you are continuing to work on the once-in-a-generation $3.5 trillion climate and care reconciliation package. This legislation will cover a variety of important priorities – including critical climate policy. The climate crisis has been declared a code red for humanity by the IPCC, and the actions our nation takes now will directly affect our ability to avert the worst effects of the climate crisis. Already, Americans are suffering from fossil-fuel pollution and the increased severity and frequency of destructive weather, like Hurricane Ida and the wildfires currently burning across 12 states.

When addressing the climate crisis – the clearest place to start is ending taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil. A just transition away from our addiction to fossil fuels must include repealing the $121 billion of preferential tax treatment and loopholes given to fossil fuels. The reconciliation process presents the opportunity to do just that – to repeal fossil fuel subsidies to help pay for this historic investment in our future.

As your constituent, I urge you to ensure that repealing fossil fuel subsidies is included as a source of revenue for the infrastructure package.
