Tell the Fish and Wildlife Service to save gray wolves from extinction!

Wolves remain absent across most of their historic range — because they are being savagely hunted and killed.

States are making it easier for hunters to freely and legally murder wolves. They have recklessly slaughtered these iconic canines at record numbers by shooting, trapping, choking, poisoning, and other inhumane poaching tactics.

If efforts to restore the population of gray wolves are going to be successful, we urgently need to take action and demand the restoration of federal protections for these beloved animals against barbaric hunting.

To the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,

The Trump administration stripped Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections from gray wolves across the entire lower 48 states on October 29, 2020. It has led to states making it easier to recklessly and brutally murder these iconic animals, which has decimated this still unrecovered species.

In delisting wolves, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is ignoring science showing that gray wolves are not recovered. Wolves only occupy a small portion of available, suitable habitat in Oregon and Washington and remain absent across vast swaths of their historical habitat nationwide.

In Montana, 90% of the gray wolf population is at risk due to their relaxed hunting laws. In Wisconsin, a spring hunt led to hunters killing double the allowable quota. To begin to make up for lost ground, I ask you to commit to restoring protections for gray wolves throughout the United States.

The restoration of gray wolves could be a heroic success story, but it will be cut tragically short if wolves do not receive protection under the ESA now. We can't let fragile wolf-recovery efforts be stalled and allow states, hunters, and trappers to push the species back to the brink of extinction.

Please ensure gray wolves have a future by taking immediate action to halt the impending slaughter and begin the process of restoring ESA protections for gray wolves.
