Wolves remain absent across most of their historic range — because they are being savagely hunted and killed.

States in the Northern Rockies are making it easier for hunters to freely and legally murder wolves. Hunters have recklessly slaughtered gray wolves at record numbers by shooting, trapping, choking, poisoning, and other inhumane poaching tactics.

In this season alone, over 270 wolves have been killed in Montana with another 300 wolf deaths in Idaho. If we don’t act NOW, these iconic canines could go extinct.

Dear President Biden,

Earlier this year, it was announced that gray wolves would once again be protected as endangered species in most of the country. However, these safeguards do not apply to gray wolves’ critical native range in the Northern Rocky States of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

These states permit some of the most barbaric trophy hunting practices. Idaho has removed the limit to the number of wolves that can be murdered by a single person and allows private contractors to financially sponsor mass wolf killings. Montana has recently authorized wolf snaring — an inhumane method of torture that traps and chokes innocent wolves, making them suffer before their deaths — and the state just lengthened its trapping and snaring season.

In this season alone, over 270 wolves have been killed in Montana, with another 300 wolf deaths in Idaho. These iconic canines have seen the worst persecution in OVER A CENTURY, so I’m calling on you to instate an emergency relisting of Northern Rockies gray wolves under the Endangered Species Act.

Gray wolves are an iconic symbol of American wilderness, and they are culturally significant to the local tribal communities of the Northern Rockies. Not only that, but they also serve a critical role in our entire ecosystem. Please, emergency relist these beloved species before it’s too late.
