Tell the EPA we need to protect manatees from corporate cruise ships!

At least 500 manatees have already died this year; scientists point to the main cause being HABITAT DESTRUCTION and STARVATION due to the loss of seagrass beds.

Without seagrass, manatees cannot survive. It is their #1 source of nutrition. But cruise ships dump toxic wastewater and churn up sand and contaminants that compromise water quality and contribute to the destruction of seagrass.

Corporations like those in the cruise ship industry are responsible for causing mass disturbances to manatees’ ecosystems. Port development and expansion not only churn up sand and other contaminants that damage manatee habitats, but these careless corporate cruise companies also DUMP tons of toxic wastewater into the ocean.

If the EPA were to crack down on pollution in their habitats, these “gentle giants” could have a chance at restoring their population. We must demand that the EPA do more to ensure manatee survival by protecting their precious seagrass habitat and primary food source. Add your name now!
