Stop retail giants Home Depot & Lowe's from selling bee-toxic pesticide!

Bees need us to get Roundup off the shelves and out of our gardens. But Home Depot and Lowe’s are keeping their shelves stocked despite Roundup’s harmful impacts to bees and the EPA’s findings that glyphosate, its active ingredient, is likely to injure or kill 93% of endangered species, including pollinators. Home Depot and Lowe’s can choose to make the right decision and stop selling Roundup, but this won’t happen unless we all demand this together.

Bayer-Monsanto committed to removing glyphosate from Roundup in 2023 for the U.S. commercial market, but people, pollinators, and the planet cannot wait.

I am writing to urge your company to lead the industry by ending sales of Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides immediately. I also urge your company not to sell the reformulated Roundup products unless the replacement products are demonstrated to be truly safe for people and pollinators.

In a process known as “regrettable substitution,” the replacements for high-profile chemicals of concern like glyphosate are often as toxic as the original chemicals. As a recent analysis shows, half of all herbicides offered by your company contain highly hazardous ingredients. It is imperative that you send a clear message to Bayer that your company will not sell Roundup unless it is a genuinely safe alternative for your customers and our planet.

Glyphosate is a primary driver of the decimation of monarch butterfly populations and has also been linked to bee declines. A recent EPA assessment found that it is likely to harm or kill 93% of endangered plants and animals. This weedkiller is also linked to harms to human health, including cancer, endocrine disruption, DNA damage, shortened pregnancy, reproductive harm, disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease.

While Bayer’s plan to reformulate Roundup in 2023 is a positive step, if your company does not immediately end sales of Roundup, people will continue to spray cancer-causing glyphosate on their lawns and gardens. Please take swift action to protect the health of people, pollinators, and our planet from this toxic weedkiller.
