Demand the USDA to stop its support for factory farms!

Mega meat corporations pollute our air and water and subject farm animals to intolerably cruel conditions. Cramming these helpless animals into crowded spaces creates a dangerous breeding zone for bacteria and disease that ends up in our communities.

Not only does the waste from factory farms contaminate our food, water, and air, polluting the environment for nearby residents who are most often low-income communities and communities of color, but the greenhouse gas emissions released by factory farms exacerbate the climate crisis. Toxic pollutants from factory farms have been linked to respiratory ailments, decreased quality of life, stress, and elevated blood pressure.

If we are going to protect our communities and animals, the USDA must STOP supporting this greed-fueled industry right away!

Dear USDA,

Factory farming poses a risk to animals, our public health, and the environment.

Animals on factory farms are subjected to unnecessary suffering and are forced to live under inhumane and unsanitary conditions -- which is not only cruel, but it also creates a breeding ground for bacteria and disease.

In fact, industrial-scale farms produce as much as 1 billion tons of manure waste -- three times as much as humans. And that waste ends up contaminating our water, food, and air.

Nearby residents are also at risk from factory farms. Research has linked toxic air and water pollutants to respiratory ailments, decreased quality of life, stress, and elevated blood pressure. This harms low-income communities and communities of color the most, where these massive facilities are disproportionately located.

To make matters worse, factory farming releases large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating the negative impacts of the climate crisis.

But USDA continues to fund and support these mega meat corporations, so I am writing to you today to urge you to STOP your support of the factory farming industry and prioritize public health.
