Urge Home Depot and Lowe’s to save the bees and stop selling Roundup!

Roundup’s active ingredient glyphosate is putting bees at risk. This toxic weedkiller is also putting our health at risk. Bayer-Monsanto announced its removing glyphosate from consumer products in the U.S. in 2023 following pressure and lawsuits from concerned people like you, but people, pollinators, and the planet cannot wait.

But pollinators can’t wait another year. That’s why we are pushing Home Depot and Lowe’s to immediately pull Roundup off their shelves and make sure any replacements are safe. Will you sign your name and tell Home Depot and Lowe’s to protect our bees from this bee-toxic pesticide?

Bayer-Monsanto committed to removing glyphosate from Roundup by 2023, but people, pollinators, and the planet cannot wait.

I am writing to urge your company to lead the industry by ending sales of Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides immediately. I also urge your company to not sell the reformulated Roundup products unless the replacements for the active ingredients are demonstrated to be truly safe for people and pollinators.

In a process known as “regrettable substitution,” the replacements for high-profile chemicals of concern like glyphosate are often as toxic as the original chemicals. As a recent analysis shows, half of all herbicides offered by your company contain highly hazardous ingredients. It is imperative that you send a clear message to Bayer that your company will not sell Roundup unless it is a genuinely safe alternative for your customers and our planet.

Glyphosate is a primary driver of the decimation of monarch butterfly populations and has also been linked to bee declines. And a recent EPA assessment found that it is likely to harm or kill 93% of endangered plants and animals. This weedkiller is also linked to harms to human health, including cancer, endocrine disruption, DNA damage, shortened pregnancy, reproductive harm, disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease.

While Bayer’s plan to reformulate Roundup by 2023 is a positive step, if your company does not immediately end sales of Roundup, people will continue to spray cancer-causing glyphosate on their lawns and gardens for the next two years. Please take swift action to protect the health of people, pollinators, and our planet from this toxic weedkiller.
