Tell the EPA to BAN bee-killing neonic pesticides that are threatening our pollinators and planet!

Neonics are the most widely used insecticides in the world. They are long-lasting -- staying in the environment for months to years. These dangerous pesticides have harmful effects on our ecosystems and food supply.

While the European Union has banned the worst neonics, the EPA continues to allow their widespread use, putting pesticide industry profits above the health of people, pollinators, and the planet.

We must demand action to protect ourselves and our environment.

To the EPA:

I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoid pesticides to protect pollinators, endangered species, and other wildlife. There is overwhelming evidence demonstrating that neonicotinoids harm pollinators, and data show that many threatened and endangered species are likely to be adversely affected by these chemicals. In addition, emerging evidence associates neonicotinoids with harm to human health.

The United Nations estimates that 40 percent of invertebrate pollinator species, including species of bees and butterflies, face extinction. In recent years, U.S. beekeepers have lost an average of 40 percent of their hives. Over the last twenty years, monarch butterfly populations have declined by nearly 90 percent. According to a meta-analysis of research on insect declines, neonicotinoids and other pesticides are one of the leading factors impacting insect populations.

Neonicotinoid pesticides pose a significant threat to many critical species. I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoids immediately.
