Tell the EPA to BAN toxic bee-killing neonics!

Neonics are wreaking havoc on our planet. These dangerous pesticides are a key contributor to massive deaths of birds and bees and have extremely harmful effects on our environment and food supply.

That’s why the EU has already banned outdoor use of the worst neonics, and the UN has stated that they are so hazardous, they should be “SEVERELY RESTRICTED.”

But in the U.S., the EPA continues to allow the widespread use of these bee-killing pesticides by failing to properly reign in Big Ag. In fact, the EPA could soon officially APPROVE neonics for the next 15 years!

Friends of the Earth and more than 60 other environmental groups have already filed a legal petition with the EPA to hold Big Ag accountable -- but now, we urgently need 3,981 more signatures on this citizen petition from activists like you to show strong public support. To the EPA:

I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoid pesticides to protect pollinators, endangered species, and other wildlife. There is overwhelming evidence demonstrating that neonicotinoids harm pollinators, and data show that many threatened and endangered species are likely to be adversely affected by these chemicals. In addition, emerging evidence associates neonicotinoids with harm to human health.

The United Nations estimates that 40 percent of invertebrate pollinator species, including species of bees and butterflies, face extinction. In recent years, U.S. beekeepers have lost an average of 40 percent of their hives. Over the last twenty years, monarch butterfly populations have declined by nearly 90 percent. According to a meta-analysis of research on insect declines, neonicotinoids and other pesticides are one of the leading factors impacting insect populations.

Neonicotinoid pesticides pose a significant threat to many critical species. I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoids immediately.
