Tell President Biden to permanently protect Molok Luyuk from greedy developers!

Energy developers already have their sights set on the unique landscape of Molok Luyuk. We need to act before it’s too late.

From its wildflower meadows to towering pine and cypress forests, Molok Luyuk or Condor Ridge is full of rare wildlife. It’s also sacred to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, containing important historical and religious importance. It’s critical that we protect this region before it’s forever changed.

But so far, President Biden hasn’t committed to expanding the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument in order to protect Molok Yuluk. That’s why we need your help.

Dear President Biden,

I strongly support the expansion of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to include Molok Luyuk (Condor Ridge). Expanding the monument is an opportunity to protect a rare and rugged landscape that is sacred to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and critically important to conserve in the face of a changing climate. I urge you to use the Antiquities Act to expand the monument and permanently protect these special lands.

Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument is located just north of Sacramento. It stretches from Napa County in the south to Mendocino County in the north, encompassing 330,780 acres of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).

The proposed expansion area - Molok Luyuk - is located on the eastern edge of the existing monument. These BLM-managed lands include rolling hills, rocky outcroppings, meadows of wildflowers, and forests of pine, cypress, and oak. On a clear day, visitors experience 360 degree views and can see as far as Mount Shasta and the Sierra Nevada in the distance.

Moluk Luyuk offers incredible opportunities for hiking and includes critical wildlife habitat. A key goal of this effort is to establish co-management with federally recognized Tribes and return to an Indigenous name for these lands. Molok Luyuk is Patwin for Condor Ridge and is a name provided by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. Protecting this important habitat will help preserve biodiversity and conserve a critical wildlife corridor.

The protection of Molok Luyuk has garnered widespread support and congressional, Tribal and community leaders are urging you to use the Antiquities Act to expand the monument. I add my name in strong support of expanding Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.
