The Arctic is on the frontlines of the climate crisis, warming twice as fast as the rest of the world.

Yet for far too long, greedy fossil fuel companies continue to exploit the region for oil and gas — adversely hurting local Indigenous communities, wildlife, and the planet.

New developments by Big Oil and Gas will continue to have devastating consequences on the Arctic region for all those who call it home unless we speak up immediately to demand stronger federal protections against Arctic drilling.

We can’t let that happen, so we’re aiming to get 5,614 more activist submissions by 11:59 P.M. TONIGHT to send a strong message to the Biden Administration: NO MORE DIRTY ENERGY HANDOUTS; NO MORE ARCTIC DRILLING! Can we count on you to step up and take action right now?

To President Biden:

I'm writing to express my thanks for the recent actions to protect the Arctic Refuge and parts of the Western Arctic. It is imperative that you take the strongest possible measures to protect the Arctic and establish important safeguards against new fossil fuel threats in the region.

The Arctic plays a critical role for wildlife and provides sustenance and spiritual connection for Indigenous people and these proposed actions represent an important start towards protecting  the area from new oil and gas leasing.

Now your administration must take additional bold actions in order to durably protect this critical landscape from the imminent threats of fossil fuel development. Further protecting the tens of millions of acres of culturally and biologically rich lands in the Arctic presents your administration with a tremendous opportunity to build upon your climate and environmental justice goals.

I urge your administration to initiate an assessment of what oil and gas development in the Arctic Refuge could do to the environment and releases new land management regulations for the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A). I ask that you consider the strongest possible protections for the Arctic Refuge and to carefully evaluate all planned oil and gas development in the Western Arctic with a climate assessment so that new projects like Willow cannot move forward in contradiction to our national climate commitments.
