Tell Congress to OPPOSE the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act before it’s too late!

Congress could pass this bill at any moment – and our schoolkids’ health will suffer if we don’t act to stop it!

The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act relies on junk science to prop up Big Dairy at the expense of our students. Whole milk does not improve bone health or lower blood pressure despite industry claims. In fact, it contains a huge amount of saturated fats.

This bill would also deny many students access to non-dairy milk alternatives.

Here’s the bottom line: Congress could pass this dangerous, discriminatory bill at any moment. Your message to your Representative can help stop it. Will you help?

Dear Representative,

As your constituent, I’m writing to urge you to vote NO on H.R.1147, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, when it comes before you on the floor this week. This legislation would jeopardize the nutrition of school lunches, contradict the recommendations in the US Dietary Guidelines, and fail to improve child nutrition equity. Instead, I urge you to do all within your power to advance H.R.3276, the Healthy Future Students and Earth Act, which would remove unnecessary barriers preventing students from accessing non-dairy milk.  
 
Allowing full-fat milk to be offered as part of school lunches, and to create a loophole to increase the overall saturated fat content in school meals, is harmful to children’s health and runs in contradiction to the recommendations from the US Dietary Guidelines.  
 
Besides reducing the nutritional quality of school lunches, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act would perpetuate barriers for children needing to access nutritious and appropriate beverages. Instead, please support H.R. 3276, the Healthy Future Students and Earth Pilot Program Act, which would remove inequitable statutory barriers that prevent parents from making the best choices for their children’s health.
