Gray wolves. Grizzly bears. Bees. Butterflies. Whales. Greater Sage-grouse. These are just a few of the species – many of them endangered species – that will be at greater risk without your help.

Congress is on the verge of passing a spending bill with dangerous language that would restrict the EPA’s ability to regulate pesticides to protect endangered species, weaken safeguards for our public lands, and even directly attacks specific endangered species. It’s cruel and unnecessary!

Your message to Congress can help REMOVE these provisions before it’s too late! But we need you to act right now!

Dear Representative,

I am writing to urge you to ensure that any final FY 2024 appropriations bill is free of riders that undermine the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and protections for imperiled species. The House FY 2024 Interior appropriations bill, H.R. 4821 includes 15 harmful ESA riders, many of which block or deny critically needed protections for species on the verge of extinction – some of which already have been awaiting protection for decades. In addition, the Senate Interior appropriations bill, S. 2605, still includes the long-standing rider denying ESA protections to the imperiled sage-grouse.

Please ensure the following provisions are not included in any final appropriations bill:

Sec. 446 – Exempts Consultation for Land Management Plans

Sec. 448 – Blocks Protections for the Lesser Prairie Chicken

Sec. 452 – Delists Gray Wolf

Sec. 457 – Blocks Increased Protections for Northern Long-Eared Bat:

Sec. 461 – Prevents Adequate Pesticide Regulation

Sec. 486 – Blocks Protections for Dunes Sagebrush Lizard

Sec. 487 – Blocks Protections from Rodenticides

Sec. 491 – Delists Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem Grizzly Bear

Sec. 501 – Blocks Protections for the Salina Mucket and Mexican Fawnsfoot Mussels

Sec. 506 – Blocks Revision of Harmful ESA Rules

Sec. 512 – Blocks Increased Protections for North Atlantic Right Whale

Sec. 517 – Weakens Protections for Rice’s Whale

Sec. 521 – Blocks Protections for Texas Kangaroo Rat
