Tell Congress to OPPOSE the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act before it’s too late!

The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act relies on junk science to prop up Big Dairy at the expense of our students. Not only does it ignore the harmful effects of whole milk, it also denies many students access to non-dairy milk alternatives.

Dear Representative,

As your constituent, I’m writing to urge you to OPPOSE S.1957/H.R.1147, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. This legislation would jeopardize the nutrition of school lunches, contradict the recommendations in the US Dietary Guidelines, and fail to improve child nutrition equity. Instead, I urge you to do all within your power to advance policies to remove unnecessary barriers preventing students from accessing non-dairy milk.

Allowing full-fat milk to be offered as part of school lunches, and to create a loophole to increase the overall saturated fat content in school meals, is harmful to children’s health and runs in contradiction to the recommendations from the US Dietary Guidelines.

Besides reducing the nutritional quality of school lunches, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act would perpetuate barriers for children needing to access nutritious and appropriate beverages. Instead, please support policies to remove inequitable statutory barriers that prevent parents from making the best choices for their children’s health.
