Tell the U.S. Export-Import bank to oppose public funding of toxic pollution.

Only fossil fuel companies will benefit from liquefied natural gas projects in Mozambique.

The local people will face toxic pollution. They will receive very little economic benefits as their health is degraded.

The planet will continue to bake as increased emissions are pumped into the atmosphere.

U.S. taxpayers will know their hard-earned dollars are supporting a dirty project overseas.

No one wins but fossil fuel executives. That’s why we need your help to stop this before it’s too late.

Dear Chair Reta Jo Lewis,

Please do not finance any liquefied natural gas projects in Mozambique. These projects are both a disaster for the local communities and the climate. The U.S. government should not be using taxpayer dollars to subsidize fossil fuel companies.

This project will not help the people of Mozambique, but will likely make their lives worse. Cabo Delgado is already one of the most impoverished regions of the country. Natural gas projects will primarily benefit foreign companies, not local economies. The toll on public health will be devastating.

Moreover, President Biden made a commitment to end overseas fossil fuel finance. As a member of his administration, I urge you to not break this commitment by supporting Mozambique LNG and/or Rovuma LNG. These projects will help increase the world’s dependence on fossil fuels and make limiting global warming to 1.5°C even more difficult.

For these reasons I urge you to oppose any financing of liquefied natural gas projects in Mozambique. I appreciate you taking my views into account.
