No? Then we need you to send a message to your Senators and Representative right now. It’s past time the industry responsible for polluting our communities and destroying the planet stopped receiving taxpayer support.

Dear Legislator,

I am writing to urge you to cosponsor the End Polluter Welfare Act (H.R. 8554/S.4406)

in order to save American taxpayers up to $170 billion over 10 years, and to fight the rapid expansion of fossil fuel development that puts our communities and planet in danger.

Oil and gas companies have made record profits over the past few years. Americans should not be subsidizing an enormously successful industry – especially one that continues to profit from polluting our communities and driving the climate crisis.

The End Polluter Welfare Act would eliminate these absurd corporate handouts and save American taxpayers up to $170 billion over the next ten years by:

Abolishing dozens of tax loopholes and subsidies throughout the federal tax code that benefit oil, gas, and coal special interests.

Updating below-market royalty rates for oil and gas production on federal lands, recouping royalties from offshore drilling in public waters, and ensuring competitive bidding and leasing practices for coal development on federal lands.

Prohibiting taxpayer-funded fossil fuel research and development.

Ending federal support for international oil, gas, and coal projects and supporting the global community’s fight to move away from dirty fossil fuels.
