These colossal plastic production facilities also burn through tons of fossil fuels, releasing harmful emissions into our atmosphere and exacerbating climate change.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a responsibility to keep us safe but has FAILED to address the plastic crisis in any meaningful or effective way — instead, putting our health, our ecosystems, our communities, and our planet in danger of facing a catastrophic PLASTIC APOCALYPSE.

The world faces an indisputable plastic pollution crisis. Every year, the United States alone burns or buries 32 million tons of plastic in landfills and 8 million tons of plastic pollution escapes into the world's oceans. By 2025, more than 4.5 billion pounds of plastic packaging will be used every year.

99% of plastic is made from fossil fuels, and fracked gas is fueling an unprecedented boom in plastic production. Plastic is an environmental nightmare at every step of its life cycle.

Plastic is polluting our entire planet, from the beaches to the deepest depths of our oceans. And it is killing marine wildlife, including sea turtles. Plastic production also fuels the climate crisis by increasing greenhouse gas emissions and harming local communities with toxic air and water pollution – threatening public health and persists in the environment for centuries.

The solution to the plastic pollution crisis is clear: Reduce the amount of unnecessary plastic produced. We can transform our extractive, throwaway economy into a regenerative, inclusive one that’s good for our country and creates U.S. jobs.
