Hundreds of state and local laws, including those protecting innocent farmed animals and restricting toxic pesticides, are at risk of being repealed.

Extremists in Congress are trying to stuff this year’s Farm Bill with tons of toxic provisions – from defunding nutrition programs to restricting laws protecting people and pollinators from pesticides.

The good news is that we still have time to get these provisions out of the Farm Bill. But we need your immediate help to make sure that happens!

Dear Legislator,

I am writing to urge you to oppose the House Farm Bill. As currently drafted, the proposal contains a number of problematic provisions that prioritize the interests of Big Ag and other industrial polluters, while undermining environmental and animal welfare protections.

The House Farm Bill would take away rights from states and localities to enact agricultural standards that protect consumers, public health, and animals. It seeks to gut state animal welfare laws and severely hamper state and local governments’ ability to protect people, pollinators, and the environment from toxic pesticides. These provisions are a dangerous overreach by the federal government and prevent state and local governments from tailoring laws to the specific needs of their communities.

The House proposal would also slash nutrition programs and climate-focused conservation funding in order to boost chemical-intensive commodity crop production. This language positions industrial agriculture interests over family farmers, puts our most vulnerable communities at risk, and directly hinders efforts to combat the climate crisis.

Please reject this current version and support a Farm Bill that prioritizes communities, family, farmers, and the planet.
