Manatees are SUFFERING AND DYING from malnutrition and starvation due to lack of seagrass. 143 baby manatees have died in 2024 — the MOST of any year on record and DOUBLE the five-year average!

Mega-polluting industries like Big Cruise and Big Oil are polluting manatee habitats leading to decimation of vital seagrass beds with rampant toxic pollution. Massive companies are dumping toxic waste and air pollution into sensitive marine habitats and poisoning local airsheds, water sources, and the food supply that nearby communities and precious species like manatees depend on.

And when Donald Trump soon returns to office, it’s going to be even harder to get rampant ocean pollution under control. On top of his disdain for environmental regulations and favoritism of corporate interests, he’s also buddies with Carnival Corp.’s chairman Micky Arison — a dangerous combination that could likely spell ecological disaster.

Corporate pollution is destroying our precious oceanic habitats, threatening vulnerable marine life like manatees, and putting public health at risk. We must fight back NOW against Trump and his extremist corporate interests before it’s too late. Dear U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,

Manatees are iconic, beloved creatures. As a keystone species, their presence is important to keeping their ecosystems healthy — and when their populations begin to decline, it signals something is very wrong.

Mega-polluting industries like Big Oil and Big Cruise are polluting manatee habitats leading to decimation of vital seagrass beds with rampant toxic pollution. Massive companies are dumping toxic waste and air pollution into sensitive marine habitats and poisoning local airsheds, water sources, and the food supply that nearby communities and precious species like manatees depend on.

Studies show that 20% of all manatees died in just two years. If we’re going to restore manatee populations and protect the coastal waters where they graze, we need to expand their protected habitat and open more areas where they can safely look for food.

I fully support the proposal to expand critical habitat for the Florida manatee and the Antillean manatee in Puerto Rico.
