Tell House Democrats to reject leaders who take fossil fuel money!

The climate crisis isn’t going away. Each day that passes, our elected officials are putting people and the environment at greater risk by failing to act. But together, we can keep pushing for real climate solutions -- and leadership -- we desperately need.

If they want to show that they're serious about addressing the climate crisis, the House Democratic caucus must choose leaders who have rejected campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry. On Tuesday, young people across the country organized a national day of action demanding real climate leadership from Democratic leaders. Now, we need your help to build on that momentum and kick fossil fuel money out of our politics.

The world's top scientists are clear that we must transform global society to stop catastrophic climate change over the next 12 years or risk irreversible impacts. Science shows we have no space for expanded fossil fuel production or infrastructure, yet the US is poised to massively increase our oil and gas drilling unless we step in. We must pursue a massive investment in renewable energy, a managed decline of fossil fuel production, and a just transition for workers in the fossil fuel sector.

The new House majority of the 116th Congress must act on the imminent dangers of climate change, not side with the corporations and billionaires responsible for the crisis. True climate leadership means an outright rejection of all future contributions from the fossil fuel industry.

As a basic condition for consideration, we demand that all House Democrats competing for leadership positions, Committee Chairs, and membership on any climate-focused Select Committee pledge to refuse all future campaign donations from the fossil fuel industry.
