Take action now: Tell NOAA to save endangered blue whales from extinction!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is supposed to protect blue whales from threats like ship traffic, entanglement, ocean noise, loss of food due to climate change and more. But so far, it hasn’t done enough. The agency is now revising its Blue Whale Recovery Plan -- but the proposed changes are far too weak. We need your help to fix that!

Dear NOAA officials,

I am deeply concerned about the proposal for revisions to the Blue Whale Recovery Plan. The proposed changes don’t go nearly far enough to protect the world’s largest mammal from extinction.

I urge you to go beyond new studies and additional research and propose concrete steps to save this critical species. NOAA should: 
•	In addition to new studies and research, use existing, best available science to determine site-specific management actions that can be taken now to reduce the threat of ship strikes, ocean noise, entanglements, and other threats that we know pose threats to blue whales.
•	Create objective, and measurable criteria for delisting that have discreet timescales for action. Do not simply call for ongoing research for the next 15+ years. 
•	Consider regional expertise and efforts currently in the works to protect blue whales to reduce the risk of ship strikes by slowing ships through the Santa Barbara Channel and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
