I am writing to urge you to do everything in your power to defend and strengthen the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

NEPA is our nation’s fundamental environmental law to ensure communities like mine have input before the government approves polluting projects or risky actions in my community. We have a responsibility to protect our planet and the health of our neighborhoods, and NEPA ensures we can do that.

President Trump has announced removal of Council on Environmental Quality rules that help agencies implement NEPA. This is meant to directly undermine NEPA and its protections.

Trump Administration agencies have also begun to roll out plans to pare down NEPA reviews and reduce consideration of the impact of government actions on people and our planet.

I urge you to oppose this move and act immediately to protect and strengthen NEPA through legislative action.
