Tell your Representative: Support a strong Green New Deal that ends our dependence on fossil fuels!

The fossil fuel industry is polluting our environment, driving us to climate chaos, and harming our communities -- all while reaping massive profits for its executives.

But right now, we have a historic opportunity to fight back by passing a strong Green New Deal. This is our chance to rapidly end our dependence on fossil fuels and prevent climate chaos while creating millions of jobs and putting communities on the front lines of environmental destruction at the center of the solutions.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive champions in Congress have taken important first steps toward making a Green New Deal a reality. But every single member of Congress, from conservatives to progressives, needs to feels grassroots pressure from their constituents like you to make it happen.

Dear Representative,

I am writing today to urge you to take immediate action to advance a strong Green New Deal, and to consider the following principles as the 116th Congress debates climate change legislation and momentum around the country builds for a Green New Deal.

The Green New Deal must be visionary in scope. It must stop the exploitation of our communities and our environment. It must be developed from the ground up in collaboration with workers and communities. And it must transform our entire economy, including sectors like energy, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure.

I urge you to support a Green New Deal that:

•	Phases out fossil fuels and transitions the economy to 100 percent renewable energy.
    •	Decarbonizes transportation and expands access to affordable public transit.
    •	Transitions away from energy-intensive, polluting, inequitable industrial agriculture and builds a healthy, just food system where organic is for all.
    •	Ensures a fair and just transition, led by impacted workers and communities, including frontline, vulnerable, and Indigenous communities disproportionately burdened by toxic pollution.
    •	Upholds Indigenous rights.
    •	Includes a national jobs guarantee, creating good jobs with collective bargaining rights and family-sustaining wages for all workers, including farmworkers, that currently lack most federal labor protections.

Our planet can’t wait. We need a Green New Deal to rapidly end our dependence on fossil fuels and build an economy that serves workers and communities, not corporations.
