To Chief Schultz and the U.S. Forest Service:

I am writing to request that you not rescind the Roadless Conservation Area Rule (Roadless Rule) as proposed, but instead to keep the Rule in place to protect the wildest parts of our public forests.

The Roadless Rule safeguards communities, wildlife, water, and climate by keeping our forests development-free.

The plan to rescind this rule jeopardizes nearly 45 million acres of heritage forestland managed by the U.S. Forest Service, comprising nearly a quarter of the territory in our national forest system.

Rescinding the Roadless Rule wouldn't just be a handout to corporations, it would be a destructive policy with devastating effects on wildlife, clean air and drinking water, outdoor recreation, communities, local economies, and wildfire management.

The American people have the right to explore truly wild backcountry lands where there are no roads: only open land, clean water, and peace of mind. These lands are universally beloved and they belong to ALL of us. Please help defend these precious sacred natural places now and for future generations to come by upholding the Roadless Rule.
